AI and the Future of Employment: What You Need to Know to Stay Ahead

AI and the future of employment: what you need to know to stay ahead.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to give a talk on “Attitude towards a reality called Artificial Intelligence”. At that time, professionals were not clear on how this technology could help in different areas. Today, however, we see how AI has created new ways of working and tools to facilitate our lives.

Why did I choose this topic a few years ago? Because several people approached me with fear of being replaced by technology. At that time, I told them that repetitive jobs could be replaced by technology, but as professionals, we must always be updated and learn new ways of working to be more productive and beneficial to companies.

Today, it is important to stay ahead, no matter the sector you are in. Technology continues to advance, and we must be one step ahead.

I believe that as professionals, we must be aware that the world is changing and that technology is here to help us. I invite professionals not to be afraid. I still find people who do not know how to handle the basics, such as social media for the professional field. The only way to face this fear is to prepare ourselves and continue learning.

The implementation of technology and artificial intelligence is changing the job market. Some jobs may disappear while others become more important. Some of the trends that can be observed include:

Jobs that may disappear:

Repetitive jobs: The automation of repetitive tasks through robots or AI can make some jobs disappear, such as factory assembly or supermarket cashier jobs.
Call center operators: AI is improving the ability of chatbots to respond to customer questions and solve problems, which can reduce the need for call center operators.
Retail store employees: Self-service technology and online shopping can reduce the need for employees in retail stores.
Accountants and auditors: The automation of accounting and financial tasks through accounting software and data analysis can reduce the need for accountants and auditors.
Jobs related to social media management and online advertising could be automated in the future.

Jobs that will be important:

Data analysis specialists: With the large amount of data generated in digital marketing, data analysis specialists can help interpret it and make informed decisions to improve marketing strategies.
Software engineers and application developers: The growing demand for technology and mobile applications means that software engineers and application developers will continue to be important in the future.
Cybersecurity specialists: As technology becomes more advanced, so do cyber threats, so the need for cybersecurity specialists will continue to grow.
Healthcare workers: Technology can improve healthcare, but human presence will always be necessary to provide direct care to patients.
User experience (UX) specialists: User experience is a critical part of digital marketing, and UX specialists can help design and improve the user experience on websites and applications.
Content marketing specialists: Content marketing is an important part of digital marketing, and content marketing specialists can help create and distribute engaging and relevant content to attract consumers.
SEO specialists: SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a fundamental part of digital marketing, and SEO specialists can help improve website rankings in search engine results.
Marketing automation specialists: Marketing automation is a growing trend, and marketing automation specialists can help create and execute automated and personalized marketing campaigns.

In conclusion, it is important to note that automation and AI do not necessarily mean the elimination of jobs, but rather a change in the skills and competencies required to perform those jobs. Therefore, training and education programs may be needed to help workers adapt to changes in the job market.

Regarding administrative positions, such as administrative assistants, receptionists, archivists, and human resources personnel, AI may automate some tasks, which can reduce the need for personnel in these roles.

As a professional, it is important to keep your skills updated and stay informed about changes in the job market. Technology will continue to advance, and we must be prepared to adapt.
