Technology has become a powerful tool that has enriched our lives in many ways. It has facilitated communication, education, entertainment, and access to information. However, I have also experienced how it can become a trap that takes us away from the true essence of life.
In my work as a digital marketing professional, I am constantly exposed to new technologies. I spend the entire week in front of a computer screen, working for my clients. It’s a job I enjoy, but it can also be exhausting.
Over the past year, I have incorporated various artificial intelligence tools that have significantly streamlined my work. Nevertheless, I have learned that finding a balance between technology and real life is essential for my well-being.
In my free time, I enjoy being in community and meeting new people. My innate curiosity drives me to be in constant learning. But to maintain a healthy and balanced life, I’ve discovered that I need to dedicate time to myself. I reserve the first three hours of the morning and weekends to connect with God, my inner self, and the most elemental aspects of life: nature, the people I interact with, my pets, and my plants.
Why is it crucial to find a balance between technology and real life?
There are various reasons that underscore the importance of finding this balance. Firstly, technology can become addictive. Spending too much time in front of a screen puts us at risk of losing track of time and the world around us, leading to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
Secondly, technology can isolate us from others. Constantly being connected to our devices deprives us of the opportunity to fully interact with the people around us, resulting in social health problems such as loneliness and lack of support.
Thirdly, technology can deprive us of meaningful experiences. Being absorbed in our screens puts us at risk of missing important moments in life, creating the feeling of living a superficial existence.

Set limits: Decide how much time you will spend daily in front of a screen.
Discover other enjoyable activities: Go for a walk, read a book, or spend time with your loved ones.
Turn off your devices when you don’t need them.
Take regular breaks: Get up and move every 20-30 minutes.
Technology is a valuable tool, but it is crucial to use it consciously. By finding the balance between technology and real life, we can improve our health, well-being, and relationships.
It is essential to find this balance to avoid missing out on meaningful experiences, prevent social isolation, and protect our mental health. By setting limits, exploring other activities, and disconnecting at appropriate times, we contribute to improving our quality of life and personal relationships.
